Greener Pastures Farm Bloodlines
Lewis Line
The Lewis line traces back to a breeder who spent many years breeding Soay sheep.  Most breeders on the West Coast purchased their sheep from him.  We have strived to keep this line in it's original form, with little or no introgression of British Soay blood.  The line is generally coarse fleeced, which makes the very best tanned pelts!  The ewes are scurred or horned, the rams have very wide horns, and the sheep tend to be of good carcass size.  This is the one bloodline of Soay sheep we chose to keep; the rest are for sale.

Umatilla with her first lamb. Uma appears to be having a "bad hair day" because she is in the midst of rooing her fleece. Once it's all off, she will be back to her pretty self! May 6, 2004
