CASCADE FARMSTEAD SHEEP FOR SALE
We sold our first starter flock of Cascade Farmstead sheep in 2008, and 26 more sheep in 2009, with reservations filling for 2010. Contact us to get on this waiting list!
- All ewe lambs and ram lambs are capable of breeding their first autumn; and while flukes can happen, we have had 100% success.
- Thus far our 1-year-old ewes produce one lamb and our ewes that are 2 or more years of age ideally produce twins, which has been our goal from the outset.
- I guarantee the horns of my rams. If the horns do not clear his face with room to spare, I will replace him free of charge. This guarantee does not include transportation costs. See our Horns page for information on why horn width is important.
PRICES:
- $350 to $400 per lamb, picked up or shipped by June 30th.
- Adult ewes range in price from $400 to $700 each.
- Adult rams range in price from $600 to $800 each.
- This price includes a Registration Certificate with a 5-generation pedigree with all the details I have learned are important to a practical farmer.
As per standard sales contracts (I'm sorry if this doesn't sound very friendly, but we've learned the hard way to spell out what most people recognize as obvious):
- If you live outside Washington State, we will make arrangements for the necessary Health Certificate, but you will be responsible for the costs.
- All costs associated with transport are your responsibility.
- As is typical with livestock transport across country, the costs associated with shipping long distance often cost as much or more than the sheep themselves. As with any quality sheep and any new enterprise, it is wise to plan to spend a little more to begin your flock. Once you have a starter flock, bringing in new genetics via one or two new rams every few years is considerably less expensive, whether by purchase or by trading with a fellow CFS breeder.
- If you ship via air: We are willing to work with PetSafe through Continental Airlines, which is the safest and most cost effective shipping method in our experience. You can check current prices here. Call us for weight estimates. (If you choose another airline, we charge an additional $300.00 in advance to cover our extra time and aggravation, non-negotiable.)
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold specific sheep. (If for any reason we cannot fill your order, we will refund your deposit). Payment in full is due no later than June 15th. Sheep must be picked up or shipped no later than June 30th, unless prior arrangements have been made with our consent.
Buyers of our Cascade Farmstead sheep are expected to become members of the breed association, and encouraged to work together with other CFS breeders for the benefit of both the breed and the farmers!
